Just finished working on a new track for the Highpoint Band. The song is called 7,000 days. They’ll be using it to promote a new series about the 7,000 days it takes to raise a kid. I really had fun with this one, and got to try out some new techniques and ideas. Have a listen!
I just got back from a 6 day trip to San Diego where I recorded production sound for Flashlight Media Group and Rivers of Hope. Rivers of Hope is a foundation that Philip River’s (quarterback of the Chargers) has started to help foster children in San Diego county. While in San Diego we did several interviews with Philip, adopted families, and kids that were in the foster care system. I will also be composing music for the project, so be looking for several new tracks from me in the next few weeks!!

Here’s an awesome version of We Wish You A Merry Christmas. Maybe it should be called Wii Wish You A Merry Christmas – you’ll get the idea when you listen to it. I mixed and mastered it for Bellevue’s Singing Christmas Tree which still has performances through Wednesday. So, go listen to the youth choirs sing along to this “8 bit” track. More Christmas goodies coming soon!

Star & Micey is a Memphis band who just released their debut album under the Ardent Music label. Not only do these guys know how to put on a great show, but they can write some catchy songs! If you haven’t heard their album yet listen to it here. With guest appearances by Luther Dickinson (Black Crowes, North Mississippi Allstars), Rick Steff (Cat Power, Lucero), and Jody Stephens (Big Star) – this is a cd you definitely shouldn’t miss out on. After hearing their song “She’s On Fire” I couldn’t help myself, and begged them to let me do a remix. Be one of the first to hear it!
Sometimes we’ll get a request to compose in the style of a particular band or popular song. This is often done to avoid the hassle and cost of licensing a particular piece of music while still keeping the feelings and connotations associated with the original piece. We’re music snobs here at EarSmack, and we’re not ashamed of it! When we do sound alikes we dissect every piece of the original, finding out what really makes it tick, then we reinvent it. Here’s an example.
Highpoint Church in Memphis, TN is a fast growing church with a clear direction and identity. When they approached us about music for their imperfect campaign, they already had several ideas of what they wanted. The end result was a song that included all of the specific elements that they requested (Postal Service Synth, Acoustic Guitars, Logo Pad etc..). The music really helped to tie the whole campaign together! Take a look at it here!
